Hello and welcome!

My (adopted) name is Kay and I am the blogger behind Kay's Bookshelf. I have started the site in early 2007 wanting to make it a place to jot down my thoughts on the books I devoured. I'm a passionate reader and have been so ever since I can remember so becoming a book blogger seemed like a natural transition to make. My favorite books are time-travel related ones and/or historical fiction (the books that touch both are even better, of course). I love Jane Austen and the Bronte sisters, but also some contemporary authors such as Terry Pratchett, Stephen Fry or Philippa Gregory.

In real life I live in Timisoara, Romania, where I am a software developer, married and happy owner of a very playful cat. I also enjoy solving jigsaw puzzles and every now and then I get online to play some World of Warcraft.

I gladly accept books for review and I can promise I will read the book cover to cover before stating my opinion on it. I can also promise my review will be as objective as I can make it and I always try to point out the best parts in the books I review. This notwithstanding, I will always state my true opinion on your book, so if I won't like it I won't pretend I did. Given the fact that I live overseas and postage may be expensive I also accept ebooks (I love, of course, the feeling of a paper book but I love discovering new books and authors even more, so I won't let a minor thing as the lack of physical support get in the way).
